Arthur L.Crowder March 10, 2010


Arthur Lee Crowder, age 63, of the Green Valley community, Spruce Pine, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 in the Blue Ridge Regional Hospital. A native of Avery County, he was the son of the late Arland and Alma Townsend Crowder. He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Allen and Terry Crowder.
Arthur retired from Henredon Furniture Company of Spruce Pine. He was a member of Powdermill Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon for many years. He was also a member of the Vesper Lodge 554 in Spruce Pine.
Arthur enjoyed fishing and making music with the Dark Ridge Boys Gospel Bluegrass Band.
Surviving is his wife of 44 years, Lou Della Hoilman Crowder of the home; daughter, Amanda Briggs and companion, Larry Hoots; sons: Mark Crowder and wife, Toni, Matthew Crowder and wife, Donna, and Arthur Crowder, Jr., all of Spruce Pine; two brothers: Alec Crowder and wife, Rosa, and Tony Crowder and wife, Polly, also of Spruce Pine; five grandchildren: Ashley and Andrew Crowder, Adam and Aaron Sparks and Tyler Head; also several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Friday, March 12th in the Powdermill Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold Dellinger officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the church.
