Betty Ann Cornett Brown, age 80, of Elk Park, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 15th, 2019 at Life Care of Banner Elk. A native of Avery County, she was a daughter of the late Wilson and Julie Taylor Cornett. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Basil Brown who passed away in 2013; grandson, John Milan Brown; sisters: Clarise and Dorothy and brothers: Buddy, Burman, Burton and Wayne. Betty was a member of Open Door Baptist Church and River Walk Quilters Guild. She worked for Glen Raven Mills and later worked with Appalachian Regional Health Systems at Cannon Hospital.
Surviving is her daughter, Debra Taylor and husband, Kim, of Newland; sons: Jerry Brown and wife, Denise, of Roan Mountain, TN and Michael Brown and wife, Amy, of Mountain City, TN; ten grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Natalie Cornett, of Newland. Several nieces, nephews, her church family and extended family also survive.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17th in the Hughes Cemetery on Baxter Hughes Road. Rev. Tommy Carver, Rev. Brian Griffith and Rev. Don Ford will officiate.
