Carrie Lee Whitson, age 80, of Burnsville went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 26th, 2019 at Care Partners Solace Center. She was born on March 29th, 1939 in Yancey County to the late Julius and Pansey Laws Whitson. She was also preceded in death by an infant brother and brothers: Gene Arnold "Bob" Laws and Bill Laws. Carrie worked many years at Ellen's Knitting Mill and Burnsville Hosiery Mill.
Surviving is her son, Rev. Bobby Silver and wife, Vivian, of Burnsville and daughter, Jean Godfrey and husband, Dean, also of Burnsville; sister, Glenda Gregory; grandchildren: Nick Silver (Brandi), Amber Dillinger (Tim), Gary Godfrey (Stacey), Melissa McKinney (Harold), Tiffany McCurry (Jeremy) and Joni Godfrey; great-grandchildren: Chevie Silver, Lylah Silver, Madison Dillinger, Tristan Godfrey, Chloe Godfrey, Shaylee Godfrey, Chase McKinney, Gage McKinney, Logun McKinney, Megean McCurry, Colton McCurry, Jerimiah Conley and Eden Conley. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Per Carrie's request a graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 28th in the Will Hughes Cemetery. Rev. Rick Bennett will officiate.
