Carroll Ray Burleson, age 74, of Granite Falls, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 3rd, 2019 at his home. A native of Mitchell County, he was a son of the late Audie Burleson and Mary Irene Silvers Burleson. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Wilson; brothers: Dewey and Donald Burleson and a sister, Joyce Ann Burleson. Carroll loved his family, watching his grandchildren play sports, enjoyed fishing, camping and car racing. He was retired from Frye Regional Medical Center.
Surviving is his second wife, Loretta Summerlin of Yancey County; daughters: Myra Carlton, husband, Chris, Marsha Anders and Valerie Wilson and husband, Jeremy, all of Granite Falls; son, Scott Geouge and wife, Betty, of Marion; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren with another on the way; sister, Glenda Gragg of Newland and a brother, Harold Burleson of Spruce Pine. Numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, and a bonus of numerous grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, October 7th at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Rev. Toby Crowder will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 p.m. prior to the service. Graveside service will follow in the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery.
