Clair Strickland Brake, age 43, of Burnsville, passed away on Monday, July 16th, 2018 at Mission Memorial Campus. A native of Statesville, NC, she was a daughter of Euvalea Kimball Strickland of Carolina Beach and the late Lewis Strickland. Clair worked as a hairdresser for Madison Manor and Town and Country Hair Fashions. She loved her career and worked every single day she could. She enjoyed reading, especially Steven King novels, and listening to music, her favorite being Ozzy Osbourne, Stevie Nicks and Run DMC. Clair was a hot sauce fanatic, enjoying scientifically engineered hot sauces-the hotter the better. She will always be remembered as a fun and loving daughter, wife, mother and sister.
Surviving in addition to her mother is her loving husband of 24 years, Jay Brake; daughter, Carrie Brake; son, Jason Brake (her hot sauce apprentice) and two brothers: Boyce and Greg Gibson.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 22nd at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in Landis.
