Claude Maxwell "Max" Cabe

Claude Maxwell "Max" Cabe, 90, went home to be with the Lord September 16th,  2018 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital.  Born on September 11th, 1928 in Raybun County, Georgia, he was the son of the late Claude W. and Grace Ramey Cabe.  In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his precious daughter, Sarah Hilliard; brother, Charles Cabe and wife, Josephine; one sister, Dorothy "Dot" Cabe; one son-in-law, Reid Gouge and a brother-in-law, Gline Holland.  

            Max was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church for some 60 years and Deacon and Chairman for some 30 years.  Max was employed by the State of North Carolina Department of Transportation as State Highway Inspector, working part time even at 82.  He loved his family, his church, his church family and the many friends he had.  He loved to talk to everyone and was always looking for a project.  He was a US Army Korean War Veteran.

            Left to cherish his memories are his wife of almost 66 years, Lucille Earley Cabe; his daughters:  Paulette G. Gilley and husband, Henry, of Burnsville and  Sandra Cabe and significant other, Randy Greene, of Spruce Pine; his son, Billy Maxwell Cabe and wife, Olga Leticia, of Moore, SC;  son-in-law,  Mickey Hilliard of Burnsville;  five grandsons:  Travis Garland and wife, Heather, Josh Garland, Ryan and Jackson Cabe and Bill Gilley and wife, Michelle;  four granddaughters:  Shanna Hillard, Janet and Jenny Rivera, Maggie Benge and husband, Matthew and  ten great-grandchildren.  Lots of nieces and nephews; one brother, Robert Martin Cabe and wife, Elizabeth, of Franklin and one sister, Jeanette Holland of Franklin.

            The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral services honoring Max Cabe on Friday, September 21st at 1 p.m. at Liberty Hill Baptist Church with Revs. Jimmy Upton, Ricky Ray and Clay Dale officiating.  A time of visitation and receiving friends will be on Friday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. prior to services at the church.

            Flowers will be accepted and appreciated or memorial donations to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital at PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
