David Woodby, age 63, of Burnsville, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 1st, 2018 at his home following a brief illness. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of Orpha Bryant Woodby of Byrd Branch and the late Claude Woodby. David worked with Glen Raven Mills for 45 years and was a member at W.M. Borings Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. He loved to travel and hike.
Surviving is his daughter, Christy Hill and husband, Andrew, of Burnsville; son, Cody Woodby of Burnsville; his loving partner, Annette Ponder of Burnsville; sisters: Rose Woodby of Burnsville, Daphny Woodby of Spruce Pine, Mary Alice Woodby of Burnsville and Melanie Murphy and husband, Max, of Burnsville; brothers: Darrell "Tony" Woodby and wife, Marina, of Spruce Pine and Dennis Woodby of Burnsville. A special sister-in-law, Faye Briggs, two nieces, a nephew, a great-niece and many cousins and friends also survive.
Funeral Services will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3rd in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Dale Laws will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 5th in the Woodby Cemetery on Byrd Branch.
