Devon Geouge, age 38, of Bakersville, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 8th, 2020 at Mission Hospital. A native of Yancey County, he was the son of Dickie and Doris McGee Geouge. He was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James Richard and Hattie Mae Thomas Geouge and maternal grandfather, Julian "Dooley" McGee. Devon loved to ride four wheelers, dirt bikes and play with his remote control cars. He always helped everyone he could. Devon was also volunteer firefighter and first responder for several years with Newdale Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving in addition to his parents Dickie and Doris are his sisters: Tonya Beaver (Johnny Huskins) of Burnsville and Stacey Mayes (Gary Godfrey); adopted brothers: Blake Mayes, Jeffrey Geouge and Benjamin Geouge; nephews: Christian, Zachary and Dominic Beaver; maternal grandmother, JoAnn Garland McGee; uncles: Jimmie McGee, Tommy McKinney (Janice), Allen McGee (Kathy) and Tony Geouge and aunt, Janice Collins (Roy). Several cousins and many friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday in Blue Rock Baptist Church Cemetery.
