Don Holdren, age 75, of the Cranberry Community, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 11th, 2019 at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital. A native of Roan Mtn., TN he was a son of the late Charlie and Edith Holdren. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Junior Holdren. Don was a simple man who loved life. He worked for 30 plus years for Mountain Electric until his retirement. He was in the National Guard and loved antiquing.
Surviving is his loving wife of 53 years, Janice Holdren; sons: Cory Holdren and wife, Mandy, of Cranberry and Jon Holdren and wife, Karla, of Spruce Pine; mother-in-law, Merle Johnson of Cranberry; grandchildren: Cole and Chole Holdren; two brothers and four sisters. Several extended family members also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 14th in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where he was member and former Sunday School Teacher and Choir Director. Pastor Cameron Dula and Rev. David Burnop will officiate. Burial will follow in the Johnson Cemetery on Tucker Hollow Road. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
