Doris Cannon Edwards, age 82, of Jonesborough, TN, entered into eternal rest at her home on the morning of Sunday, February 17, 2019. Formerly of Yancey County, Doris was a daughter of the late Charlie and Lula Bradford Cannon and wife of the late Theron Edwards, who passed away in 2011. She was also preceded in death by brothers: Stanley, Fred, Ford and Lester Cannon. Doris retired from Levi Strauss in Johnson City. She loved crafts, gardening, her flowers, canning and cooking for her family. Doris was a religious person who deeply loved her brothers, sisters and family and will be truly missed by all who knew her and will always live in her families hearts forever.
Surviving are her sisters: Mary Stissel of Erwin, TN, Daisy Higgins of Burnsville and Esther Williams and husband, Kenneth, of Burnsville and brother, Ted Cannon of Burnsville. Several nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly, also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 20th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Dakota Crain, Adam Bradford and Dwayne Wilson will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times the family will be at the home of her niece, Sheila and Keith Jones on Piney Hill. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday in the Cannon Family Cemetery at 1840 Piney Hill Road.
