Gary Swann, age 51, of Burnsville, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 15th, 2019 at his home. A native of Woodfin, he was a son of the late Ed and Virginia Anderson Swann. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Bruce Swann, who passed in 2012. Gary was a US Army Veteran, who was very proud of his service and his country. He was an avid vintage car and Volkswagen fan who was an over the road truck driver for Wilsonart for over 13 years.
Surviving is his loving wife, Lisa Boone Swann; children: Derek Swann a.k.a. Melonhead, of Burnsville, Micah Foxx a.k.a. Lurch, of Burnsville, Gage Foxx a.k.a. Pepsi Machine, of Burnsville, Adam Swann a.k.a. Honk, and his wife, Courtney, of Leicester, Adrian Boone a.k.a. Tater, and his wife, Brittany, of Burnsville, and the light of his life, Lauren Swann a.k.a. Boogie, of Burnsville; grandchildren: Ryan Swann, Robby Swann, Iris Jones, Ivy Boone and Blaire Boone; brothers: Mike Swann a.k.a. Peckle, and his wife, Jennifer, of Buladean and Toby Swann a.k.a. Bubba, also of Buladean; father and mother-in-law: Bud and Pat Boone of Burnsville; sisters-in-law, Pam Niclaw of Burnsville and Rachel Shepard of Illinois and brother-in-law, Stacey Boone a.k.a. Hub of Burnsville. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 19th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Randall Robinson and Rev. Buck Thomason will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Graveside Military Honors will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday in the Anderson Family Cemetery at Beech Glen.
