Georgeann Cooke, age 83, of Bakersville, went home to be with the Lord on November 23rd 2018 at her home. Born on March 9th 1935, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary Yelton McKinney. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life, Rev. Stokes Cooke; two son-in-laws, Jimmy Huskins and Robert Lampkins; brothers: Paul, Walden, Bill, Bruce, and Wayne McKinney; and sisters: Kate Moore, Jolene Singer and Judy Hodge. Georgeann was a devoted member of Beans Creek Church of Jesus Christ, where her husband pastored for many years. For 62 years Georgeann and Rev. Stokes were inseparable. Together they spread the word of the Lord and tended to the needs of their family, church, and community. Georgeann's church family often referred to her as the "jewel" of the church and her kindness will never be forgotten. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother with the sweetest and most caring nature.
Survivors include daughters: Angela Lampkins, of Wytheville VA, Connie Huskins, Judy Lynn Cooke and Therena Bastianelli and husband, Jim, all of Bakersville; grandchildren: William Jerod Huskins, James Ethan Huskins, and Jimmy Bastianelli, all of Bakersville, and Brianna Kaitlyn Lampkins of Wytheville, VA.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 28th 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Beans Creek Church of Jesus Christ. Rev. G.B. Garland, Rev. David Byrd, Rev. Doug Honeycutt and Rev. Larry Garland will be officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service, from 11 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., at the church. Internment will follow at Fork Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery.
