Helen Dianne Conrad Vernon, known to friends as “Dee Dee,” passed away at Cannon Memorial Hospital, Linville, NC on Monday, February 4, 2019, at the age of 75.
Dee Dee was born in Lexington, NC on November 27, 1943 to Helen Deaton Conrad and James Casper Conrad. She was a long time resident of Winston-Salem, NC and an employee of the Bowman Gray School of Medicine for 37 years as the Administrative Manager for the Department of Neurology.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband, William “Billy” Vernon, and long time partner, Bob Blevins. She is survived by her only son, Cas (Jayme) Vernon of Beech Mountain, NC, brother, Ted (Karen) Conrad of Lexington, NC, nephew, Chris (Chrystal) Conrad of Kannapolis, NC, niece Rebecca Brandes (Kent Richardson) of Mountain View, CA, grandchildren, Ashlyn, Hannah, Haleigh, Jaxon and Caitlin Vernon, and special family friends, Murdock and Rhonda Evans, Nicholas and Sofia of Walkertown, NC.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the loving and caring staff at the Cranberry House, Newland, NC.
A private service will be held at a later date.
