Fishing 03

James Albert Laughrey

September 8, 2018

James Albert Laughrey departed this life Saturday, September 8, 2018 to dwell for Eternity with his Beloved Lord and Saviour.  He was 73.

Born September 15,1944 to Albert L. and Ethel L. Laughrey in Terre Haute, Indiana, James graduated from Garfield High School Class of 1962 and went on to attend ISU.  He pursued a career in Home Improvement sales.  James relocated to Florida in the late 1960’s where he later met the love of his life, Nancy, in Fort Myers.  They married and embarked upon an adventure spanning more than 33 years culminating in the couple settling in Inverness, Florida.  James retired from the HVAC sales and service business.  He and Nancy enjoyed the best of both worlds, spending the summer months nestled along the edge of a small lake in North Carolina and in the warm climate of Florida during the winter months.

James was an avid water sports enthusiast throughout his life.  He participated in all things boating related: skiing, swimming, exploring, and most importantly fishing.  Later in life, James began ministering as a fisher of men, reaching out to share the Gospel.

Preceded in death by his father Albert in 1990, mother Ethel in 2011, and brother Stephen in 2015, James also experienced the loss earlier in life of two sons and a daughter.

He is survived by his loving wife Nancy of Inverness, son Jason Morales (Jessica) of Birmingham, granddaughter Brighten Morales also of Birmingham, sister Kathleen of Inverness, nieces Anjela (Inverness) and Heather (Bensalem, PA); and nephews Trent (Prattville, AL), Todd and Stacy (Olathe, KS), many, many great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other family and friends.

James has requested no formal services or memorials.  His body will be cremated and interred by Nancy.   His soul already resides in Heaven, and those who mourn him can take comfort in the knowledge we will meet him again when we are set free from our earthly bonds.
