James "Jim" Monroe Webb, age 74, of the Harrell Hill Community, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 11th, 2019 at Mission Hospital. A native of Mitchell County, he was a son of the late Willie Webb and Alice Gortney Webb Tipton. Jim worked for Modern Globe for 32 years and then 15 years at BRP until his retirement. He was a member of Green Mountain Presbyterian Church, where he was an Elder. He was also a member of Bradshaw Fire Department where he served as Financial Treasurer for a number of years and past Master of the Bakersville Masonic Lodge #357 A.F. & A.M. Jim was also a founding member of the Mitchell County Recreational Youth League.
Surviving is his loving wife of 48 years, Ella Jean Garland Webb; daughter, Amanda Webb Duncan, and husband, Donald, of Conover; son, Anthony Webb and wife, Leia, of Burnsville; grandchildren: Aidan James Duncan, Julianna Duncan and Grayson Webb; sister, Dorothy Campbell and husband, Hal, of Buladean; niece, Sherry Campbell of Buladean and nephew, Chris Campbell and wife, Betsy, of Racine, WI. Several other extended family members, neighbors and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 15th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Joe Bennett and Rev. John Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends from 3 until 5 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Graveside Masonic Rites will follow the service in the Woody Cemetery on Ridge Road. Pallbearers will be his Masonic Brethren.
