Jane (Pachatouridou) Robinson

Jane Pachatouridou Robinson, age 78, of Burnsville, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, November 29th, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family.  A native of Thessaloniki, Greece, she was a daughter of the late Elias Pachatouridis and Domna Fountauki Pachatouridou.  She was also preceded in death by two brothers:  George and Dimetri Pachatouridis and brothers-in-law: Eurnious Robinson, Jim Owens and Joseph Daigler. 

            Jane left such a legacy of love to her family and those around her.  Her love of children was abundant and why becoming an educator was of such importance to her.  She taught in California for two years before moving to McDowell County, teaching at Pleasant Gardens Elementary.  She then came to Yancey County, where the majority of her career was at Micaville Elementary.  While there, she taught several student Greek dance teams throughout the county and being involved with the program, Odyssey of the Mind.  After retiring, she dedicated much of her time tutoring, both during and after hours at Burnsville Elementary.    Jane was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Asheville and her Greek heritage was of great importance to her.  She had a strong love of her homeland and enjoyed visiting as much as possible.  She also enjoyed her flower garden and crafts.

            Surviving is her loving husband of 59 years, Alton Robinson; daughter, Donna Haynes and husband, R.L., of Burnsville; two sons:  Alton Robinson and wife, Sherry, of Burnsville and James Robinson and wife, Malena, also of Burnsville; grandchildren:  Mitchell Robinson and wife, Cassie, of Belmont and Brendan Haynes of Burnsville; sister, Chariklia Pachatouridou of Thessaloniki, Greece; sisters-in-law who she considered her sisters:  Gladys Giles and husband, John, of Alexander, VA, Lola Stanley of High Point, Georgia Diagler of Acron, NY, Willa Dean Robinson of Burnsville, Wanda Proffitt and husband, Bob, of Burnsville and Katherine Owens of Burnsville.  Numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members also survive. 

            The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 6th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services.  Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 7th in the chapel with Rev. Father Michael Diavatis officiating.  Interment will follow in the Strawbridge Young Cemetery in Newdale.    In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Jane E. Robinson Memorial Fund at the Yancey County Board of Education Office at PO Box 190, Burnsville, NC  28714.
