Leacil Webb

February 27, 2019

Leacil Webb, age 91, of Burnsville, closed his eyes on earth and opened them in Heaven, his eternal home, on Wednesday, February 27th, 2019 at Pisgah Manor in Candler.  Leacil was born in Mitchell County on October 22, 1927  to the late Jeter and Vola Johnson Webb.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Betty Gardner Webb; daughter, Terri M. Webb; brother, Jim Webb; sister, Katrinka Webb Doan; son-in-law, Michael Reid; and brother-in-law, John Buckner.  Leacil was a US Navy Veteran and proudly served our country during World War II with the Naval Seabees.  After the war, he had many jobs before finally settling at Thurston Motor Lines in Charlotte, from which he retired after 24 years of dedicated service.  Leacil also lived in Marion for several years before returning to Yancey County in 1993.  He loved being back home in the mountains of Western North Carolina.  Leacil enjoyed reminiscing about growing up in Yancey County on his family farm in the 1930s and 40s and also enjoyed sharing his WWII stories .  He was a skilled mechanic and repaired all types of cars and was especially versed in Subaru repair.  He was a talented woodworker and created many beautiful accent pieces.  Leacil was also a member of  Bald Creek Lodge #397 A.F. & A. M.  Leacil was well loved by his family and his many caregivers at Pisgah Manor and CarePartners Hospice.  We were blessed beyond measure to have Leacil in our lives.  He now has a "new beginning" and this time, it is eternal.
