Lewis Blevins, age 80, of the Seven Mile Ridge Community, passed away on Wednesday, September 12th, 2018 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Rev. Dave and Minnie McMahan Blevins. He was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, William Dennis "Bill" Long; brothers: Edward, Melvin, Cary, Charles and Claude Blevins; sisters: Lois McClellan and Pearl Buchanan. Lewis was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. He was a simple man who loved his family and friends dearly and loved working on old cars.
Surviving is his loving wife, Phyllis Ogle Blevins; son, Randall Blevins and Brad Duncan, of Spruce Pine; daughter, Virginia Blevins Long of the South Toe Community; granddaughter, Lee Ann Long of the South Toe Community; sister, Thelma Wilson, age 87, of the White Oak Creek Community; several special nieces, nephews and other extended family members including Della Miller and the entire staff of Blue Ridge Regional Hospital, who was always there for love and support.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 20th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Funeral Services will follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Charles Ray Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in the Cornelius Ray Cemetery.
