Rhoda Scott Myers died peacefully on October 23rd, 2018. She was born in Mission, South Dakota, the only child of Elizabeth Rodee and Millard G Scott and was proud of her pioneer ancestry. Rhoda was preceded in death not only by her parents but by her daughter, Melinda Myers as well.
After spending her childhood in SD, she married and spent most of her adult life in Oklahoma. She held a Masters Degree in Education and was a beloved teacher of children with special needs in the Oklahoma City and several surrounding school systems for many years.
Later in life she moved to North Carolina to be closer to her children. She was a member of the First Unitarian Church of Oklahoma City.
She is survived by her son, Scott Myers; daughter, Marnie Walters (Herb) all of Burnsville, NC; a granddaughter, Juniper Briggs (Brent) of Bristow, Virginia and two great-granddaughters.
A private family service has been held.
She lived a life of love and service, always enjoying gardening, cooking, her friends, the arts and her family. An anonymous quote sums up the way her children feel about her and how much she will be missed: "She made the broken look beautiful and the strong look invincible. She walked with the universe on her shoulders and made
it look like a pair of wings.”
Yancey Funeral Services assisted the Myers family.
