Sam Singleton, age 74, of the Spear Community, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 27th, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. A native of Avery County, he was a son of the late Robert and Vaulta Isaacs Singleton. He was also preceded in death by sisters: Betty Elizabeth Singleton, Barbara Trivette and Mary Singleton. Sam enjoyed selling flowers, pumpkins and Christmas trees. He loved to be outdoors mowing the yard, gathering wood and tinkering on his Volkswagen's with his dog, Bear.
Surviving is his loving wife of 48 years: Clarice Ward Singleton; children: Jimmy Singleton and wife, Shannon, of Spear and Sandy Singleton of Spruce Pine; grandchildren: Emily Singleton, Addison Nutter and Mason Nutter and a sister, Doris Coleen Singleton of Spear. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, December 2nd in Yellow Mountain Baptist Church. Rev. Kagan Young will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 4 p.m. prior to the services at the church.
