Thurline Ward Ledford, age 66, passed away on June 21st, 2019 after a battle with cancer. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a daughter of the late Coy and Ruby Willis Ward. She was also preceded in death by her grandparents: Hairm and Birtie Willis, and George and Minnie Ward. Thurline graduated from Cane River High School in 1970 and from Mayland Community College in 1997. She was President of Heritage Grading & Paving, Inc of Burnsville for 21 years. She loved her work. Her motto was, 'Owe no man anything'. She lived her life desiring to have no regrets.
She leaves behind her husband of 49 years, Jerry Thomas Ledford; her sons: Mark Ledford (Chris) and Ryan Ledford (Kayti); granddaughter, Claire McKenzie Ledford; grandsons: Rory Ledford, Jake Silvers, and Cooper Silvers; sisters: Jearldine Tipton and Wilma (Rick) Bennett; niece, Shelly Carroll (Kelly); nephews: Matthew Bennett (Sierra) and Steve Tipton (Crystal); great-nephews: Carson Bennett, Braylen Tipton, Caden and Pace Carroll; and great-niece, Payton Tipton. Special aunts Mildred Renfro and Dessie Wilson of whom she loved dearly also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 26th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Service. Rev. Rick Bennett will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday in the Howell Cemetery on Patterson Branch Road above the church.
