Tylor Nathaniel Cook, age 25, of the Powdermill Community, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 5th, 2018. A native of Avery County, he was a son of Tammy Owen Hughes and the late James Robert Cook, Jr. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Ashley Cook; brother, Marcus Hughes and maternal grandmother, Caloua Sue Snider. Tylor enjoyed music, especially heavy metal, skateboarding, being outdoors and shooting pool.
Surviving is his mother and step-father, Tammy Owen Hughes and Joe; siblings: Keisha Renne Cook (Hilario Garcia) of Newland, James Cook III (Samantha Burleson) of Newland, Calvin Cook of Newland, Myra Davis (Timothy) of Newland, Monica Sheppard (Matthew) of Newland, Joallen Hughes of Newland, Mark Hughes of Spruce Pine and Shane Hughes of Spruce Pine; maternal grandfather, Jerry Dean Owens; paternal grandmother, Juanita Wise of Elk Park; paternal grandfather, James Robert Cook, Sr. of Elk Park; niece, Bryanna Garcia and nephews: Ethan and Eli Garcia and Ryan Cook. Several other extended family members also survive.
Graveside services will be held at 12 noon on Friday, August 10th in the Hughes Hill Family Cemetery. Rev. Terry Lyons will officiate. Pallbearers will be: Matthew Gilpin, John Proffitt, Cory Jones, Gerald Jones, Gabriel Wise, Zachery Cook and Damian Buchanan.
