Wade Carroll

Wade Carroll, age 78,of Celo, passed away on Monday, April 1st, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Thomas and Eula Gibbs Carroll.  He was also preceded in death by his sisters:  Edith Laws, Merle Parker, Gladys Hensley and Alma Leister and brothers:  James "Junior"  and Billy Carroll.  Wade was of the Baptist Faith.  He worked as a logger with his brother Junior for many years and later became the owner of a shrubbery business.  He was a talented landscaper and could grow a mean garden.  Wade loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and bear hunting.  Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

            Surviving is his loving wife of 58 years, Brenda Carroll; children:  Randall Wade Carroll and wife, Lisa, of Celo, Frank Carroll and wife, Sharon, of Bowditch, Jeffery Carroll of Celo and Lisa Jones and husband, Charles, of Penland;  grandchildren:  David Wade Carroll, Bradley Thomas Carroll and wife, Tiffany, Heather Robinson and husband, Chris, Charlene Ray and husband, Justin, Andrew Wantz and wife, Megan and Cassie Burleson;  nine great-grandchildren; sister, Glenda Atkins and husband, Clarence, of Estatoe and brothers-in-law:  Floyd and Clarence Chrisawn.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

            The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 4th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services.  Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home .    Rev. Glen Autrey, Rev. Chad Chrisawn and Tony Laws will officiate.  Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday in the Carroway Cemetery.

            The family would like to say a special thank you to Floyd and Clarence Chrisawn for all their love and support and to Sharon Carroll for being our rock and taking such good care of dad.  Also, a special thank you to Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge for the wonderful care and support to dad and our family.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations made to them 236 Hospital Drive, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
